Dollars to donuts most (if not nearly all) of the "new" CDL mill graduates haven't a clue what they are actually looking at. Then there are the select few who go out of their way to learn.

For those who graduate without a clue, some will take the initiative to pick up what they SHOULD have been taught somewhere along the way...either by asking questions or talking with those who know. Then there are those who take on the "I'm just a driver" attitude and don't CARE what makes the truck do what a truck is supposed to do. They tune out whenever the conversation turns educational and take offense to being referred to as a "steering wheel holder" despite that being the entirety of their motivation in this industry.

It is a broad spectrum...but the CDL mills aren't any better than the public schools...teaching how to answer the test questions, rather than teaching the knowledge required to arrive at the correct response. It is no different than a teacher telling the students to memorize "C,B,A,A,D,C,D,A,B,D" in preparation for the 10 question exam. Nobody learns anything that way.

Total bogus! Line, hose, what's the difference! Your probably nicer than I, cause I'd lay into this POS who probably has never driven a truck before, you should have talked to his supervisor

I was failed on my first test because during my applied brake check I used the term "1 minute" instead of "60 seconds".

I tried to argue with the idiot that 1 minute is 60 seconds......she didnt want to hear it.

I'll go ballistic if something like that happens to me. I am being taught to say "1 minute'

These examiners must have superb dental plans.

Yes you can provide your own truck or use theirs, its 100 bucks each time to use your own, or 175.00 each time to use theirs, and they fail 9 out of ten the first three times, unless you pay to go to their school, then you pass the first time but that's 5000.00 for 10 days

Yes sir, you're so right, I've taken this skills test 4 times the 3rd time I done everything correctly then the Instructor told me that I had to say from 90psi I'm building my pressure to 140psi where the governor will cut out, then the 4th test guy tells me I should of said I'm building my pressure to a range of 120 psi to 140 psi , its a dang if you dang if you don't deal, they are making millions off the skills test. ..its a money pit scam
