I saw a reference to them in another thread a couple days ago praising them. So I checked it out and thought I might try one.
Question is how does the four foot base loaded version compare to the four foot all fiberglass version performance wise. Also how flexible is the all fiberglass version. I do a lot of flying and have to be able to flex my antenna to fit in my checked suitcase. I'm currently using a Wilson 2000 and it works real well as far as the suitcase is concerned.
Your advise and opinion is valued as always.
Not getting any action on this but I'll add another question to this post. Does anyone care to share their experiences with a antenna tuner? Do they actually work or is it just another way to spend money

Tuners work.

Would you have any recommendations?

I cant comment on skipshooters, as 'ive never used one. Though, a lot of people are happy with their performance.
Yes, tuners work for their intended use, they are not snake oil. But i would ask, why do you think you need one? -
It would be useless for me running a station optimized for a single frequency, but ham guys like them.

I have two part time jobs. One I drive a W 9 in which I have a permanent set up, Cobra 29 and a Wilson 2000. I bought it from DBT radio and it does great. I have another job which I either fly to the truck and drive it some place, usually coast to coast, or drive the truck to the west coast and fly home.. I drive several different trucks and I don't want to purchase a 2000 for each one, gets too expensive, so I put another Wilson in my check baggage. I've got a brand new Galaxy, again from DBT, that I want to start using on the long runs and thought a tuner might serve me well in that capacity.rabbiporkchop Thanks this.

I see... most hams who use tuners do so because they dont want, or cant have, a variety of antennas for different bands. They can run a 40 meter antenna and keep their 10 meter radio "happy", and still get power out to the antenna.
If you're just running cb freqs, i see no reason why you would need one. Wilson antenna's are wide banded, tune easy, at least in my expierience, and a tuner would just be something else to hook up, pack around, etc..etc.
