skip was rolling....

to my surprise I have been able to get a few responses recently in my mobile running a 4w dead key. just yesterday got a response from GA and Alabama, they reported the could hear me OK, a bit quiet but could make out what I was saying. My setup is not permanent yet as I recently got a new vehicle, and haven't had the time yet to run the power cable for my amp, so I am just running my cobra 29 LX powered through the cigarette lighter and a Wilson 2000 Trucker on a magnet mount. I was skeptical about putting that antenna on a Mag mount I picked up at a truck stop, but going 70MPH on a windy day the thing didnt move at all so for now it'll get the job done. Hopefully MN will get a few nice days on my off days so I can get everything permanently installed! Be listening for Danger out there in skip land, Ill be tryin!

I haven't been in a vehicle with a decent radio for most of the summer. I didn't realize the skip was rolling that good.

 

When conditions are right, you can talk several states away on 4 watts.

Yep it has. Mostly been Mexican skip coming in. Then the other day I heard 6 was hopping with the big strappers so I moved to 38 LSB and heard some activity there....decided to move up the band a little and that's where I picked up my station at.

 

What about staying in the legal 40 ????
