You will have to have a radio with side band to use that switch,it just sets the amp to SSB mode.

The amp pauses a short period before switching to receive mode when in SSB. This is because SSB doesn't have a carrier for the amp to watch. Leave it on AM when running SSB, and the amp will constantly be switching between transmit and receive while you talk.

I don't know...I just heard someone mention "beacons" on CB.....I have never heard beacons on CB....I have heard beacons on the 10 meter band in the areas those export radios like Connexs and such operate when you're on ch 19 and then flip the band switch up one....so I figured maybe someone thought they were on CB but were really on the 10 meter band.

Interesting.....I was not aware anyone other than truck drivers, were informing anyone on the CB about accidents and such.

I was being hit hard with skip most the day. I chatted a little but my daughter gave me her bug and I had a tough time just trying to shift and operate the truck from being so weak. I would have just stopped and toughed it out but I had absolutely no supplies in the truck and a load of spuds on to boot. I only had to fight it about 5 hours till I was parked on on my way home. Oh well!!!! going to take a soak in a hot tub and see if that helps and hit the rack early and sleep till I can't sleep anymore. The boss can wait till I decide to crawl out of bed. LOL Well he said he can wait also.

Talked to "123" in Freeport, Maine, today in the mobile (personal vehicle/pick-up, or should I say "pickumup"):D. Didn't hear anything out of ND today. All east coast, west coast, and FL.

And, frankly, how many non-hams can copy Morse, anyway? The part of the 10 Meter band that is usually accessed by flipping a band switch is in tht non-voice part of the band. The rules don't allow unattended or remotely operated CB stations. The only highway info beacons I've ever hear of havr been the 1-watt maximum ones on the high of the AM broadcast band, running under the Part 15 license-rules, with a sign indicating its existence and the Bcb frequency to listen on.Caveat: Of course I don't know everything...73

The more the merrier.Although not in the legal CB band, you can usually find some brass pounding on the freeband freq 27.550 MHz when the band is open. Some of the guys have pretty good fist and others are too perfect ( me thinks some are using computer generated code ).
