You must be talking about the RANGER RADIO .....

I don't know of any HAM RADIO amps built for 10 meters the only ones I know of are 80 - 10 with a mod kit. Even under the new rules building a amp for 10 is tricky at best.

    That's why I built my own .....

I may be wrong about 10 meter but the amps were built for ham.

IF it dosn't have a band switch and a FCC ID plate I doubt it is leagal .

From what i have read to be legal it must pass the following spec ..

"The FCC requires transmitter spurious outputs below 30 MHz to be attenuated by 40 dB or more for power levels between 5 and 500 W" The only way to get this is band pass filters .... which is why the switch.

Then I might be wrong ....

I owned a Palomar Skipper 300 tube amp in 1976. Bought it new. It had a case shape similar to Heathkit equipment; rounded corners and a perforated top. It had a chromed top and it was not mint green. As I recall, it was pretty tough with decent output. The details are sketchy as that was a long time ago. I sold or traded it at some point.

    BEFORE 1976 ...

The FCC did not require certification of Amps... Or most radios ....

However that still does not make them legal ...

I did not say that they were certified or legal WA4GCH, merely that I owned one in 1976 along with a brief description. I became a legal, licensed ham radio operator also in late 1976 and have been continuously to this day.
