I did not tell all of the story. I got this from my fleet manager who told me the spam hit the fan later. This driver lived somewhere in the extreme southeast part of Ohio. He was going home for home time and get this, his fleet manager set all of this up in advance. So said driver knowing full well the load was messed up left Budweiser anyway so he could get home as soon as he could. When I asked him for a weight ticket he said the one he got at Budweiser was lost somewhere in his truck. So I told him to CAT scale it, he did and when I saw the weight on his drives knowing it was 18 pallets of beer I exploded. That driver was forced to stay there until the company could unscrew his screw up. I guess he was very late for his home time. Just for the record. All you greenhorns read this very carefully. NEVER I MEAN NEVER allow yourself to be bullied by another driver or your company into violating the law. DO NOT ACCEPT ANY MESSED UP LOAD LIKE THAT.

How much over was he?

Its been a while, but I want to remember his drives were around 38,500 pounds. And the trailer tandems were all the way forward.

It's legal in canada

^This ain't Canada though.
Virginia scales are NOTORIOUS for fining drivers with individual axles being too heavy, even if the truck is federally legal(Maryland has been cracking down as of late too). I'm VERY FAMILIAR with the Budweiser/Anheuser Busch plant in Williamsburg. The first time I went there for a load they overloaded my truck-84,000 pounds(WTF????). And that was at their scales. I took my truck back to the shipping dock and they had to unload the entire trailer and reconfigure it(they left 6 pallets off)and I ended up still being 800 pounds over the federal limit. I told the manager I would REFUSE THE LOAD if the truck was overloaded again. The 3rd time they reconfigured it the truck was 300 pounds over on the drives but I could burn off fuel to compensate. And this load was headed to Marietta,Georgia-another wonderful state known for red-lighting trucks that are too heavy on individual axles -
Well, sometimes us reefers get ice packed in with produce that takes a bit to melt and I don't think I need to say more if you've been in this predicament! lolMoosetek13 Thanks this.

I blew the Ehrenburg, AZ scale yesterday. Got the red light but the sign said bypass so I did. Besides I was attempting to make it from Coachella, CA back home to El Paso (701 miles) without going into violation on my e log and didn't need the delay.

Made it in 10.70 hours.otherhalftw Thanks this. -
In the two years I drove for Stevens I only hauled produce twice. Once with my trainer and once solo. No ice drama that I remember.

But you said your truck doesn't go that fast!

I like these 2 year old threads!
