I was diagnosed while in the military once I got back from Iraq, I was having trouble breathing at night. If you weren't diagnosed with in the military, I would call your Va and enroll in the fast track program. https://www.1010ez.med.va.gov/ this is the link that will help you get started. be prepared for alot of waiting ( I did ). If you still have your medical records from the military than that will help take a few months off the waiting time. Good Luck

So I've had my machine 3 weeks it sucks. Was out partying for my 40th bday. Got home from a night of jagermeister and any thing else free. But my problem is the mask it smells like alcohol. Any way to remove the smell. Also since my doc didn't prescribe this why do I need to comply. I feel no different then if I wasn't on it. The only thing I like is the humidifier. Also I'm not answering there phone calls. Don't need to b bothered while I'm working

Ok guys the truth.... your neck size is only a fraction... Everyone has sleep apnea of some form and degree. YES EVERYONE!!! This whole thing is a ends up being a money making scam... something I'm sure you have heard before. I will let you know after 20+ years in the oxygen business. All of the sleep/oxygen facilities are in this to make $$$ and believe me they are! The new regulations are on a company basis, there is no Fed. standard here. One company can have a threshold of 5, while another can have it at 20 or non at all. My thoughts are, you guys NEED take a firm stand and force the industry to quit placing all this on the truck driver. And if so they NEED to force this on ALL operators of any motor transports. (Train, Cab, Bus, Boat, Plane etc...) In fact Anyone who holds a CDL. I will assure you all those in the Logistics side. Once on this infernal machine will soon be side by side with you who are against this.

ok, I'll bite. At Schneider , what is on the driver?
-
The other driver?...My driver, you mean his Co. or sleep study results?
-
well, you entered a company specific subforum, so I wondered what was "on the driver" specific to this company?
-
A sleep study with his company is at 15 episodes per hour. He drives with a private fleet for a high profile retail company.
-
well , me personally, I worked that out with my doctor. But in general, with Schneider, if you have it you have it. they largely base that need fo rstudy on questionnaire (assuming the driver is honest) or recommendation during DOT physical( I do have issue with that stuff, should be doen with PCP IMO utilizing ALL criteria to refer for study) , beyond that, all costs are picked up by Schneider from study to machine( at a year the driver owns it) and all supplies sent every 6 months. At NO cost to driver.
Leaders in how companys should handle this, aside from arbitrary indicators. -
The same is true for my trucker. his company pays all costs. However... his reaction to the CPAP machine has been nothing but negative. His sleep pattern is far worse than before. Since he drives mostly at night we (including the Dr.) agree that his sleep study was done against his "normal" sleep pattern. This alone will affect the results. Something all drivers should be aware of that have to have the sleep study. Night drivers/ workers
do suffer from "Shift Workers Disease"
