I do not wish to sound mean. But how did you get your CDL and get through trucking school not being able to shift?

I don't know. I had three road tests. The first one wasn't really a road test because I failed the air brake test so no going on the road for the first time. The second road test was a fail because of the shifting issues. I did well on the backing up stuff in the yard. The third time was the same as the second. I should go back to the school and tell them to train me more but I had 16 hours on the road training already. The road tester was employed by the school and was my yard instructor. He told me I had to go find a company like TransAm that uses all automatic transmissions. I contacted them and they won't hire me because I had an accident in September,2012 with my motorcycle that was my fault (ticket said "following too closely") and had a speeding ticket in January, 2014 (went 50 in a 35 zone). I realize I should never have passed the road test now. I deserve the mean remark!!! :) Any helpful advice anyone???

I do not give mean remarks to anyone as it took me two times to pass the state test. Yeah, returning to school for more training sounds like a plan but according to your earlier post they don't wanna deal with you anymore or something to that effect. I have no real words of advice as even most of the Class B companies do not use automatics and some like mine have some bug tandem axle box trucks with 10 speeds.

1)Truck driver are singled out, as most of us are tired, and we work long hours... Even keeping it all in bounds 14hrs a day for 5 days is a lot, week after week.

2)Truck drivers at it a while, typically start to make pretty good money... Fact is, many folks with degrees don't make as much, or about the same with many years experience. This means? Drivers can afford the medical treatments so they are an easy mark.
