You don't have to save everyone. People die, just a fact of life. When I finally get to where I need help just to live my daily life, that is long enough. I don't need to be the oldest person in the world. Why the hell are people so afraid of dieing? It's not like you are going to care after you are dead.

Society does not care when you die. We all are going to die. Since you don't care when you die. You might just keep driving till you drive and die. Yes you will be dead but you probably will take out some other people with you. That's the problem. If you don't care when or how you die, when does society step in say you can't drive ? When you or me or anyone say I feel fine, I'm good to drive, when does society stop you from driving. You got nothing to lose because you will be dead.
Should doctors say I think your tired when you say your not when someone has all the warning signs ?? -
A lot of you guys are optimistic just like my ex wife. You are positive the worst is going to happen.
If I were you, I would worry more about the McDonald's wrappers on the dash having a heart attack than me.
Diseases are "discovered" all the time. Does not mean they are all of a sudden more dangerous. Apnea has been around for millions of years yet all of a sudden koolaid drinkers like you think the world is coming to an end.
The thing is that I am realistic and I don't want to be the guy drooling in the corner sitting in a diaper because people think they have to save me. It does not make me feel better, it just prolongs my agony.
The only people who feel better are the ones saving you. I don't care about your feelings. I have told my kids that too. When it is my time it is my time. It is more about the quality of life than the quantity of life.
My great grandmother had a stroke when I was about 18. They "saved" her life. That woman lived 8 years more paralyzed and not recognizing anyone. That is selfish on the part of my great aunt. By the way, she was 83 when the stroke happened.
Not saying people not get treated, by all means if you feel you need to get treated. But don't be trying to save someone else's life because it makes you feel better.
Point out to me some accidents that were the direct cause of apnea.
Lastly, the Constitution says you have the right to pursue happiness, no where in there does it guarantee happiness.tucker and Chasingthesky Thank this. -
Well, until they make euthanasia legal with humans your aunt really had no choice.

Not with a non resuscitation order.

Fair point. Did your great grandmother have one? I agree with you about quality of life. I don't want to be a burden to the people I love
-
Are you saying I'm going to die??

I was working in Alaska at the time so it a few months before I could go see her. She had no idea who I was. Told my grandmother to let her go but her sister would not let go.
Years before my grandfather died and the way I remember him is in a suit in the casket. That man only wore a suit one time in my life and that was to his daughters wedding. Told everyone after that I was not going to any viewings. Told my dad I will make arrangements but I was not going. I have not been to one since and none of them cared but the way I remember them is different.Dumdriver Thanks this. -
Even dinosaurs died.

There's always a choice. That's why ethics panels are becoming more common. My dad passed several years back in a similar manner, just with a much shorter timeline. He had an incident that landed him in the hospital on life support and there was no chance for a full recovery and slim chance for a partial recovery. My sister and I voted to let him go peacefully but my mom, who had final say, wanted to keep trying. So he spent the last few weeks of his life with a breathing tube shoved down his throat, unable to communicate in any meaningful way and in the end, died anyway.
I'm with @cnsper on this one. I'm not going to live as an invalid just so it can be said I existed a few more years on this earth. And while I'm not anti medicine by any means and I think you absolutely should take care of your health in general... there's a line there somewhere. The attitude of keep everyone alive at all costs just weakens the gene pool and will cause even more problems for humans down the line.cnsper Thanks this.
