Sleep study required for DOT med card.

You can get a new physical every day if you want. There's no law that says you can't.
Another driver on here had a similar problem. He went to another doctor and got a 2 yr. card.

 

And yet the number of fatality attributed to apnea is exactly zero, with a whopping one case that has apnea has a possible factor.
There is a reason fmcsa pulled apnea from being required when congress made a law telling them to follow their own rules. It's because there is no data to correlate apnea with wrecks.

 

Challenge that so called doctor and ask them to show you the 'rule' that says you're required to get a sleep test done. I had the same thing happen to me with the examiner saying they were following a 'rule'. When I challenged it, all they could produce was a report presented to the FMCSA that SUGGESTED sleep tests be done if over a certain BMI, but it WAS NOT a rule or regulation. A couple days later, the examiner called, apologized for any hassle, and gave me a 2yr card.

You have to call out these so called doctors on this bs that that they pull. Don't forget, these are the same people that helped unleash the opioid epidemic onto America, so whatever they tell you can not be taken as gold.

To the original post, I too faced this. Took a sleep study at an overnight facility and they had so many wires on me I had to sleep on my back… AND FAILED.

A couple years later I retested and used the Home Kit Optiom which allowed me to sleep on my side/front and passed with flying colors.

so if you have to test, be sure to try your best to sleep in a position that you sleep best (no snoring)

and the Home Kit was easier.
