the standard foam one in a truck is crap. if you are lucky to get a spring mattress they are pretty good. you can buy a spring one for about $150-200.
it's basically a twin size.

Good point numb. You can also get a custom memory foam mattress made and those are killer! If you are running team though I don't recommend the spring mattress. They bounce too much and pick up a lot more road vibration.
You can ask your company for a spring mattress and they may provide you with one. You can get them at a dealership too, maybe expensive though. Somewhere on this site, you will have to search button it, is a custom mattress website specifically for trucks. Think it was called like mattress dogs or something.
Used to be a truck store right by the Central Ref terminal in West Valley (Salt Lake) that had really, really thick spring mattresses. Only thing was they were too thick for putting on the top bunk. -
So I would say that my comprehension is just fine thank you .
Asking about a little mattress is just a little bit different than asking about a thicker mattress.
I am sorry that my attempt a humor hurt you feelings and came off as sarcasm .
80"x42" has nothing to with thickness once again it the size of the mattress not the thickness that you implied by the measurements you provided.
So to answer your first question yes the mattress size is variable in trucks.
To answer your reworded question yes the thickness of truck mattress' are variable.
As far as being a stellar example of why newbies stop posting you are correct I am .
The example of your poorly worded question and my attempt at humor being taken as sarcasm is a perfect example of why old hands don't bother with newbies much anymore.
So I will attempt to give you a little advice and I hope you don't take it the wrong way .
Do not take everything so serious !!! and don't take everything as an attack on you personally .
Newbies stop posting because they don't last in the real world of trucking.
The reality is more than your average wannabe can handle .
Have a great day and good luck ........TRKRSHONEY and ShootThis Thank this. -
Just got our peterbilt 387, it has a spring mattress in it with the dimensions you mentioned, two of us sleep on it and it is ok. For added comfort we bought a 4 inch memory foam be topper from wally world for around 100 bucks! Going to get a custom mattress for it after the beginning of the new tax year.

A good long body pillow will make a great kickstand too! This will help keep you from rolling around while you sleep!

To answer a couple other responses, my trainer is the one who told me to get a better mattress and yes, I am sure I will fall asleep easily those first days. The problem is getting up the next morning. I broke most of the bones on the right side of my body in a motorcycle accident so the right mattress is pretty important to keep me pain free.faux_maestro Thanks this. -

Some of us literally hate sleeping on memory foam, so that is not a fix all for everyone either.

But if it fits me and wife without trouble and the cat besides alls well. Takes a hell of a matress for that.
