You can also do a 8/2 split…7/3 is the minimum.

Are you asking what the regulations say you should do or what will make your safety man happy?

Log it as you do it or it's falsified logs.

True enough. But for instance when we deliver to Costco Mira loma, ca. You open, back in, and wait staying in your cab, That whole time of waiting in your sleeper can be logged as sleeper time, the rest is up to you to decide. Personally they let me in the gate and told to park till called. once parked I go sleeper and I stay that way till I exit the lot. But I wont tell another driver what to do, I also show 15 minutes for handling of paperwork.

I would definitely be in a daycab right now if I was closer than 50 minutes drive from the house to the yard. It's just too much commute time imo so I don't.

That was a completely bogus ticket on your team partner. I figured it was probably back when you were on paper logs from what you said. I meant your team partner didn't necessarily have to change his status from "sleeper" to "on duty not driving" or "off duty" just because he sat in the passenger seat while you were driving, as long as he was less than 7 minutes there in the passenger seat. That's how it was on 15 minute increment paper logs, perfectly legal and correct to not change status in that scenario.

It gave me something good to talk about 20 years later so it wasn’t all bad. I still give him grief about it occasionally! Truth be told she probably asked him how long he had been sitting up front and he very likely told her the truth.

Regs are regs and it ain't that hard. Log it however you want but if you can't explain your process to the trooper don't be butt-hurt when get a write up. The safety office can pack sand, it YOUR Log and you have to answer for it.

Legally speaking you either have to have the windshield curtain pulled or actually be in the sleeper.
