Well... it is Not Safe therefore it should be illegal whether it has a Net or No Net. I my self experienced it ....going through my training..
First it is very uncomfortable, the body won't stop from shaking and you cannot get a sound sleep that will result in being tired and not completely rested , Plus you'll be worried If something happen , an accident Yeah !! Just Imagine ...
But it is Legal to sleep on the top when the truck is parked.
So , talk with your trainer before you go out with him or Simply Say NO..you'll find trainers who won't allow their trainees to sleep on Top Bunk ...
Good luck to You All
God Bless You
Stay Safe

Should be is very different than it is.
Simple fact is there is no FMCSA regulations prohibiting it. OSHA might, but I'm not finding anything anywhere that it is.Pamela1990 and Fazoben67 Thank this. -

I had sent an email to the DOT asking them if it was against dot to sleep on top bunk when truck moving ? ..I got a response :
Thank you for taking the time to submit your question on the FMCSA regulations
I suggest you contact your local FMCSA Division office. Their contact information can be found here: Field Offices | FMCSA.
Thanks,
So i did. I called and left a brief message
Got 3 calls, two of the persons I spoke agreed with me, they were very open minded and they were good listeners, they agreed with me that was unsafe. one of them was a trucker before , he told me it's up to me to decide .....choose safety first
The second one , he has seen people died inside the truck where they were on top bunk ...
Again, people use your common sens ...choose safety
The last one was kind arrogant and sounded ungry he didn't want to say it is unsafe nor it is illegal ...he didn't want even to engage with me in a conversation ...
IT IS ON YOUR OWN RISK !!!ZVar and Pamela1990 Thank this. -
Just 1 more reason not to drive or train with CRE. How they can get even 10 drivers to work for them just boggles my mind!nredfor88, Pamela1990, flood and 1 other person Thank this.

Back 30 years ago England had nice trucks and treated drivers decent. never worked for them but for the most part the drivers I ran into and spoke with were happy. How times have changedFazoben67 Thanks this.

Okay, I get it now. He was talking about team driving.
feldsforever and DOGSLIFE Thank this. -
When I was a team driver, about once a year my teammate would be driving and have to slam on the brakes, and I would slide out of the bed and on to the floor. So what do you think?

Don’t take any job that requires you to sleep in a truck someone else is driving. There is always a better job than that. Even during training, just don’t do it.RockinChair, kemosabi49, Fazoben67 and 1 other person Thank this.
