Never leave home without your towel!
Ford Prefect.
Truer words were never spoken. The truckstop stuff is often rough and scratchy, you don't now who used it or what they wiped on it or how well it got cleaned. They smell nasty beside.
One good sized towel does not take up a lot of space, can air dry hanging off your upper bunk or seat back, and you know who used it where.
*shiver*
I would get a pair of fabric/springy/stretchy bungee cords. You can strap stuff to the side of your luggage as well, like that towel to dry or a bag of shirts or socks you buy at a FlyingJ or something while on the road when you've ruined the ones you brought with you. You WILL ruin shirts, socks and pants or you aren't getting trained right. (Or you're a total slob who doesn't care how he looks, lol)
You can also strap your luggage together to make it more manageable in your bunk. I had it all wrapped together and it took less space, didn't move around while going down the road, and had room to sleep up there too. Both trainers thought I had too much luggage, but I got it all on my bunk, strapped together and strapped down, and important and daily stuff accessible.
Well, I'm in Columbus, waiting for an empty trailer. Seems the trailer drought here is back in full swing. Called Rusty's Towing, which is a local drop yard we use to store empties. None there either. So I'm stuck. The pickup tonight is blown, and blowing one of these pickups is bad. Oh well. I can't bobtail in there at all.

#### dude, I'd definitely bring a towel and a washcloth. Especially if you spend the night on the yard in your trainer's truck considering you need your own for the showers in the lounge.
-
I use to work at the LOVES Travel Stop here in Ina, IL. The towels are very clean when we washed them they wanted us to use at least a half a bottle of bleach in every load to make sure they were clean. So don't worry about them not being clean. Because some of them that actually care about the trucker will have super clean towels.
abyliks, slick mick and j_bishop11 Thank this. -
If you stop in a rest area on the OH TURNPIKE(i-90) free showers...cleaner than most every truck stop in my experance....but you must have your own towels and soap....
and truc stop stuff is washed....most likely more than YOUR TOWEL...running hard wash time (for both YOU AND YOUR STUFF) is hard to comeby... -
I only used my own towel at the yard or that dinky trailer at JO Alvarez in Laredo. Is that place still around?
I remember the yard manager there was pretty cool and would tell us what loads were coming across the border before dispatch knew. He'd come to the trailer with a list for us to look at. We told the n00bs to not call dispatch, talk to the guy here at JO. Calling dispatch and annoying them with questions about loads just put your truck number at the bottom of the pile. -
These same people must refuse to use the towels at motels as well.
j_bishop11 Thanks this. -
