Outside of the section in 395.11 for a driver to submit to the carrier ALL documentation, the only rule in supporting documents that even comes close to this can be found in 395.11(g)
(g) Supporting documents at roadside. (1) Upon request during a roadside inspection, a driver must make available to an authorized Federal, State, or local official for the official's review any supporting document in the driver's possession.
(2) A driver need not produce a supporting document under paragraph (g)(1) of this section in a format other than the format in which the driver possesses it.
(3) FMCSA will consider requests concerning types of supporting documents retained by a motor carrier under §395.8(k)(1) and the method by which a driver retains a copy of the record of duty status for the previous 7 days and makes it available for inspection while on duty in accordance with §395.8.

The driver has to show any receipt for the trip or load they are currently on. Could be lumper, fuel, tire etc.
-
That regulation I posted does not say that. Not only that, but some carriers use hotels that are under contract amd no reciepts are issued to the driver. I was just discussing this with a Union driver.Long FLD, Dan.S and MartinFromBC Thank this.

You underlined it. Any supporting document the driver has in their possession. Maybe you should read what is considered a supporting document.
-
So if they have none with them, then that becomes null and void.
I actually texted this to my friend who is a lawyer before responding, and said how do you interpret this.Dan.S Thanks this. -
Exactly! The problem is there is no rule that mandates a driver keep a supporting document, only they must present it IF they have it.Long FLD, MartinFromBC and Dan.S Thank this.

395.11(B) says a driver must submit to their employer supporting documents within 13 days.MartinFromBC Thanks this.

If the officer wants to dig they will call fuel card company. From personal experience I can tell you comdata will send the previous 30 days of transactions.

I covered carrier submission rules in post 52. However, the rules about submitting to a carrier and what is required to have in the driver's possession are different subjects.MartinFromBC Thanks this.
