I have the same mattress in my truck that I do at home. The problem is being stuck in one spot. Most of the times I've had to take a 34 in the truck, I'm not near any place I'd like to visit (or not willing to spend the money on ubers to get me there and back).Final Drive Thanks this.

You can drink on your 34 inside your truck, if you enjoy such things.Bean Jr. Thanks this.

You must have a mustache. I see you break the tab tops off like myself. Lol.Tug Toy and Final Drive Thank this.

How does this change in a hotel?

No, you can't.

Being physically in the truck means you're in control of it.
That's my point - properly appointed a sleeper berth does not give better rest than a sleeper berth. The question is how you utilize the time off. If you are stuck in one spot, with cruddy wifi, and not a supper club within sight it's going to be a long 34 hours. -
When I park next to places like this I'm getting a hotel and have protection..

Off duty you can drink.
I can't recall doing a 34 in an undesirable place... And haven't done one on the road since 3gBean Jr. Thanks this. -
Not in the truck.
Odds of you getting caught are slim, but it's still a risk.
Take a 34 in Powell, MI - the last place I took a 34 in the truck. It's a beautiful area, full of options provided you have transportation and a fishing license (and gear). Good luck with any kind of data signal unless you have US Cellular.
Or take a look at St Louis, MO. How much will it cost to move from a truck stop to any kind of entertainment?
I don't care how comfortable you make your truck, it's nothing without making memories. When I started trucking I had friends who lived within shouting distance of all of our yards. I had no problem taking some extra time on a load or a 34 and visiting with people I cared about. I rarely took "home time" those first two years but spent more time with the people I cared about than the previous decade. During that time I found that "seeing the sights" by myself paled in comparison to doing it with people I cared about. Since then most of my friends have move up in the world and no longer live near where I can park a loaded truck without concern.
In the truck or in a hotel, I personally find taking a 34 on the road onerous and find that often I'm more tired and cranky after the 34 than I was before it.
