Sleeping at the shipper and reciever

    His point was the guys who sleep at the truck stops and leave to the shipper or reciever have to start their clock. Then when you get there it could be hours before you are unloaded or loaded. Meanwhile he is logged in sleeper berth while they are loading/unloading not using his drive time. So you could lose hours of drive time because you decided to leave from the truck stop and your clock is running while you are getting loaded/unloaded.

    So i guess his thought is you will have a full clock to drive after you are loaded/unloaded getting you to your next appointment quicker.

    I think that's what i'm gathering from all of this.

    Yep, that's the advantage to it. It makes no difference to your 70 but sitting at the shipper can affect what you can do that day once you get done there if you've started your 14.

    I guess I'm lucky as it's rare I have to sit at a shipper/receiver for long. The fact I'm still on paper logs makes life easier also.

    I make it a practice to park up the night before at as many shippers as possible so I dont have to use as much of my clock. Most times I there the night before at my receivers. I log my arrival the night before, I get unloaded, and store all my gear. THEN I start my pretrip and unloading, then send my empty. Reason why is i am usually preplanned before I even get there. I tend to get another load in where I wouldnt have had the hours to get a 4th or even 5th in for that week

    Another reason E-logs suck! Most dispatchers tell you to try and sleep at them so if you are stuck there all day waiting to load or deliver they can still push you into your full 14.
    Google Earth comes in handy for that reason too...
    Myself I would rather sleep where I have facilities.....

    Watched a bit of the video. A truck governed at 65 will be able to run a full 11 hours at exactly 65 mph, mm hmm. Is this guy really a driver?
