Yeah even tho im home daily I'd be miserable in a day cab. For a spare truck I'd deff snatch up a day cab. We're looking for a super liner or a R model for a spare. Modernize it with air ride and ditch the 5sp for a 13 Lol

I'll be at a Holiday Inn express tonight near Chicago.
Pretty sure I will be sleeping on clean sheets.

    Wasted Thyme Thanks this.

don't you need a sleeper to log sleeper berth?

I was ticketed yrs ago for sleeping across the seats.

Its on duty (paid waiting time). The beauty of a day cab if you live where there are reasonable labor laws is you can not go off duty in a day cab so all your time must be compensated. Sleeping across the seats is ON DUTY

    Numb Thanks this.

That's why the contract paid the money per layover in 1978 the $18.00 would cover most trucker 'no tell' motels along the interstate, didn't stop guys from using their box....

wink, wink, nudge, nudge; they had to know it was going on as the boxes were clearly more than a hitchhiker seat and were always part of the junkpile on the shop floor during clutch jobs. Many had CB and music radios mounted on 'em.

Carriers didn't supply any 'creature comforts 'cept a heater/defroster, no A/C, Power Steering, radio. No extra's like sound proofing, etc. so it had to suck in the hot and cold; the sleepers of the day were not all that much better.

Maybe the nice room every other shift and a big steak made up for it; kept those 'Iron-men' rolling.

    Numb Thanks this.

If you’re not too tall you can lay down stretch across the seats. Like a couch. Or you can just place something soft on the steering wheel and lay your head down. For more comfort, bring a pillow and a blanket to make you feel comfortable. That’s two ways how day can truck drivers sleep.

You can't log sleeper-berth (without a conforming sleeper), but in the US you can log off-duty in a day cab (or behind the wheel of a stationary truck). It has been that way for a while now.
