Can some of you solo drivers give me an idea of about what you AVERAGE in pay per mile? I understand the sliding payscale, and that is affected by the number of short runs vs long runs. I appreciate any info! I have been off the road for a couple years and it looks like i need to start driving again due to unmployment and layoffs. US Exp is on that will take 6mo exp w/in last 3yrs.

http://www.xpressdrivers.com/solos.html click on the $ sign. Expect to be paid .025cpm less if you elect per diem.

So after a year, if you get a 900+ mile run,

    you make a whooping 30 cents a mile ?????

    That is a shame !!!!

Thanks for the tip on per diem, Poobah, I have heard from several drivers NOT to elect per diem.
Got the payscale from the site, thanks. I guess what I would like to know is what drivers are averaging. Are there more short runs, giving you a higher pay,,or more long runs giving a lower average? How does this compare to a flat rate scale of .34/mi, etc.

You will still make more per hour with the lower pay because you will probly be on a highway, not going tru a town or city stuck in traffic.
