Slight miscalculation: Dry Van Merged into an Oversized?

Saw this just a few minutes after it had happened... The state patrol (can see his bumper in the right side of pic) had passed me on the shoulder maybe 1/4 of a mile before I passed this Van.

About 1/4 mile before this pic is a rest area. Apparently (from what the scene looked like and chatter on the CB) this van was merging onto I80 west in Nebraska from said rest area and got tangled up with an Oversize. As you can see there is construction that had the left lane closed. The Oversize continued down the road a few miles until clear of the construction to an area where he could safely get off the road. The Oversize was an equipment hauler, hauling a large Argricultural Sprayer (for spraying farm fields).
