Alarming trend on the tanker side going on....... companies cutting rates. I'm assuming carriers are taking pressure ( and caving ) to customer demands because so and so will pull it for that.
And I'll tell any carrier including my own....fell free to cut anything you want, give away anything you want..... just be sure it comes off your cut or...you can call so and so to pull it.
"If they won't pay you for it then don't write it down, that way they can't collect it either"

July has been a very good month for me in terms of net. Seemed to have a lot of Hot loads available that I was positioned for. And then timing has worked out that one of my best paying direct loads that ships monthly will do two loads this month.
-
July is always slow for me because I deal so much in auto parts but it seems to be picking back up a whole lot faster this year.

I !MUST LIVE IN A BAD AREA! HAVE KNOWN THIS! BUT SEEMS SLOWER than usual!
i usually get calls to DH to ky for my loads! apparently its slow there too! -

If manufacturing and retail data plays out then we will see less peaks and valleys in shipping and more hot freight. Pre-2007 inventory levels are way down. Companies have learned that it is better to keep inventory levels low or on shorter cycle. This works to the advantage of the transportation industry.

The "We need it there yesterday" dont cut it either. Its not my problem if they fail to order something in a timely manner.
Now if they are gonna bump the rate up 3 or 4 bucks a mile more on top of the rate then it might get there a little sooner but the we'll give you .50 more per mile aint gonna get it done. -
Hot and JIT are two different categories. JIT and HOT have been around. But when companies went from 7-10 day lead time to 24-48 lead time you have now moved more business into the JIT category. One hick-up and a manufactur can be into big penalties for every hour that something is late. Now a $2.25/mile van load turned into a $4/mile load because they want you to sit in a door and be ready to go when another part arrives. Or what ever it happens to be.
Again, yes it has always been around but you are seeing more of this because more companies have moved to JIT.
And what do you mean "not your problem?" No, because it is not your "problem" it is now some elses oportunity. And I am not talking driving illegal. Just listening for distressed shippers and taking advantage.
