Have you seen the tires wobble and jump on some of those abused chasis'?? I wouldn't pull em any faster either.
Getsinyourblood, PayCheck and hunted Thank this. -
I couldn't handle going that slow all day
-
it takes a lot of patience to go that slow something the people driving 70 seem to lack in construction zones and when its snowing or raining or foggy out
hunted Thanks this. -
they are lost may be on the phone

I've seen that too. Looks like the intermodal world has their share of drones that are too lazy to do equipment write ups.
-
the ones that are usually messed up are the 20, 40 and 45 footers ones, and some of the csx pool, most of those have carried overweight loads most of their lifetimes, jbhunt, ns and sni are doing updates to their fleet, o would say maybe anywhere from 10 to 45% of the csx chassi pool is from the 1980s to early 90's in this area I have pulled some chassis that are older than me!

You don't save much in fuel going slower pulling a can. But some of these places pay like dirt so a few pennies saved helps.
-
I need to re-write this for the real world that I live in.
-
Where I pull some chassis are from the 70s and 80s and the "new" ones are retired from Chicago. They never rebuild the axles but at least the caps are getting better compared to about 1.5 years ago. Have only wrecked two tires this year and others it's been 10+ easy.
