I knew a guy who hacked the MCP200 by disabling external connection so he could be on time to a Receiver.

Guess What? It has a internal backup battery inside the control module under the bunk....and it records everything from last duty status, the last location and the next location and on duty or off. Basically the miles for the day were calculated yet the time on duty driving was not.

So technically, he drove while off duty. And when he got back to the terminal....they made his MCP tamper proof.

    Ha....ha...ha

Just an update on this issue. If your IVG device is slow, it may be because your operating system and firmware are out-of-date. You need to call IVG technical support and tell them you want to upgrade the OS and firmware on your device and also get the instructions, which should be a PDF manual (Installation & Troubleshooting Guide).

You’ll need a USB memory stick of at least 1 GB. The other option is for Omnitracs to mail you a USB stick with the installation files already in them, but you can do this more quickly if you have a laptop and a USB stick. Once you download the two files (OS & firmware), you then unzip the files using Win-Rar, which you can download for free online. Once the two downloaded files are unzipped, you then take out the contents of the unzipped folder and move them to your memory stick. Do the OS upgrade first, then upgrade the firmware. Make sure you “format” your memory stick before moving files into it.
