They're saying $7000 on a junker? Did your dad take pics of the truck he hit? Why does a damaged bumper and headlamp cost $7000?! About all they can do is mess with you on your dad's HireRight, but some places don't even check. Add HireRight is in bankruptcy right now, so I don't even think they're still publishing reports.
Small accident?

This could be a plus for many drivers, especially if their DAC reports are either inaccurate or outright false.
-
$7000 not only sounds high, but possibly illegally inflated to get a lot of money from the driver. Hopefully the insurance companies and other "authorities" have enough sense to figure all this out.

Very interesting...and now for the rest of the story. My "dad" ate my homework?HotH2o Thanks this.

I don't like the fact you have to talk trash about the other person's truck. Did he ask your dad to hit him and damage his truck which could amount to downtime for him and loss revenue. If he was illegally park than he might be at fault as well but to say the guy truck is a pos is funny to me.

Looks like a fraudulant claim for damages. In my opinion, the fraud will mean they get zip, zultch, zero. nothing. And why is the driver being paid on a 1099? Turn them into the state's labor regulators. Get out of that cheesy outfit and get a job where they care about their drivers. You are in demand, some companies are paying thousands in signing bonuses.

Have you ever priced truck parts? You wanna talk about a racket...
It's a Freightliner, so, if that headlamp got ripped out of the mounts (which are integral to the hood), that's a whole hood being replaced. Then it gets painted. Price that sometime, especially from a dealership (although LKQ - Western Truck can sell you some used crap for about the same price as new). The $7k price tag doesn't surprise me, one bit.
There is no such thing as a "small accident" in this industry. Only those which don't get blown to the proportion they could be.truckerlife74, double yellow, truckon and 3 others Thank this. -
He just needs to do like your average truck from New Jersey, Florida or the San Joaquin Valley, duct tape that sucker back on the truck.

This thread is a real eye opener. I didn't realize I wouldn't be responsible if I hit a truck that isn't parked in a marked spot. Interesting.
