Looking for an inexpensive printer to keep on the truck. Quality not important. Simple b&w test documents. Need the smallest size for storage.
Any input would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Do you have an inverter? If so what size? The truly compact "portable printers" are kind of costly to purchase and to use but have minimal power requirements.
I'm not a fan of inkjets, varying temperature extremes and no regular use can render cartridges bad in no time.
I run a very small HP laserjet on my 1500 watt inverter.

Plenty of AC power. Good point regarding the inkjets. I didn't think of that.
What is the model of the laserjet you are using? Thanks. -
I bought mine several years ago (don't keep it in truck anymore) and I don't even see a similar HP laser that is as small as mine is. This current model is probably comparable to what I was using as far as specs ...

I use a Canon ip100. I've had it for years.
I added the battery pack good for about 250 pages and I added Bluetooth.
The new model is ip110 https://shop.usa.canon.com/shop/en/catalog/pixma-ip110Hegemeister Thanks this. -

This is similar to what I use. I think I have the 3752. Bought it at Wal-Mart for $60 or so. You can link it to Transflo as well and feed documents into it.Hegemeister Thanks this. -
Thanks all!!!
Does anyone have a problem with the ink cartridge with it being exposed to extreme temperatures in the truck? -
Just don't toss it out like a wizz bomb. Actually saw one behind the curb at a truck stop in Virginia not long ago.Hegemeister Thanks this. -
You know what would be perfect? A very small B&W laser printer. I would think the laser powder has more environmental tolerance. Just want to print permits, ID cards, etc. nothing fancy.

PORTABLE printers are made to take abuse that CHEAP desktop printers can't.
As to temperature extremes really how often do you let the temperature in your cab get above 85 or below 35....??
BTW until we went to elogs we were using a laptop log program so we had to print our logs every day for 3 years and never had a problem with this printer. When we used CHEAP printers we would go thru 1 a year... buy CHEAP and you get what you pay for
