Really easy. Nothing but a few B&W pages a month. Mostly for OD permits.

I bought an hp package. $250 laptop. $30 printer. cartridges were $15 every 6 weeks roughly. Lasted 6 years with only one cable bought.
Trucks get colder then 35 all the time in winter. Some of us actually went home on the weekends and usually during the week.Hegemeister Thanks this. -
I bought the Epson WF-100 today. It's Wi-fi compatible. The FMCSA Auditor was using this printer last week during my safety audit, so I decided to give it a try.
It is very compact and easy to set up. I set it up while at home today and experimented with it. It's pretty nice.
The Epson Android printing app is a little buggy on my phone, however, it could just be me. I'll work on that later.
I connected it to my laptop after I installed their software. Connected it via a USB cable and accessed it through my cell phone hotspot. It worked flawlessly. It includes a built in battery and once fully charged manuf. claims it will print 100 pages before needing a recharge.
I don't print many pages on the road either. However, figured if a dot officer wanted to be a butthead, he could require me to print out my logs from my non-eld software I currently use. I figure I can always use it to print out rate_cons etc, when needed.
Staples (in store) price matched Amazon Prime's online price of $183. Staple's price was $299. That was quite a discount.Last edited: Mar 11, 2017
TallJoe, Hegemeister and snowwy Thank this. -
I use a thermal printer. Similar to what the cops have in their cars. It's smaller than a carton of smokes.

Xsetra, What's the make and model number?
Scooter, that looks like the best one so far size wise, I saw it in Staples for $199.Last edited: Mar 12, 2017

I know those ink jet cartridges can be sensitive to temperature. When I'm at home, I'll leave the truck for a few days. Depending upon the weather, the sleeper can range from maybe 10 degrees to over 100 degrees. Maybe I will just take it with me during home time.
I'm printing out more and more B/Ls, permits, insurance cards, etc. It's such a PIA to have to go into a truck stop and hope they can print for me. Plus the cost. -
This printer is so compact it won't even be remotely cumbersome to carry it when you go home.
Hegemeister and flood Thank this. -
I leave mine in my computer bag. So it goes everywhere my laptop does
Hegemeister Thanks this. -
I always had spare ink cartridges. From Wal-Mart.
They seemed to hold up good in the cold. It's when they're opened and installed did I have problems. when it got really cold.Hegemeister Thanks this.
