My employer removed one tank. We often grossed over 80,000 with molten aluminum.

A gallon of water weighs 8.3 lbs, diesel weighs 7.1, and gasoline weighs 6.2. :biggrin_25526:

I have to fuel twice a day on a regular basis ( depending on where Im at and availabilty of fuel stops)...90 gal tank..run a lot of 600+ miles a day...its all about weight saving(they say) no dolly legs,no passenger seat ,no deck plate,no bunk two batteries not three..i guess if they wanna pay fuel delays and motels bills everyday ..hey Im happy, Ill run my underpowered liteweight truck from one end of the country to the other ...

all you need with big tanks is a bit of common sense and a calcutor--if i leave toronto or wherever at night--i am ok with scales for a long ways---got figure out the fuel burn to where you might be getting in scale territory--that idea works anyplace then as long as you watch your fuel to weight you can do ok and still generally get fuel once a day

Diesel and gasoline change weight with the temperature. 300 gallons can make a difference if it's cold and you're right up agains't the limit.

My truck only has 2 100 gal tanks and that's fine with me. 200 gallons of fuel will get me around 1400 miles, and that's a lot more than I can drive without a break anyway. I prefer buying in smaller amounts just so I can get more free showers. If I get full tanks all of the time I end up having to pay for showers. I just don't understand the big deal, I like to stop once or twice during my drive time anyway, so if it's for fuel, to eat, to potty or just stretch my legs, it doesn't really matter.
Some people like to go the whole 11 hours without stopping, not my way.

I'm glad my truck holds 300 gallons.....I'm one of those 11 hour non stop guys!....lol!
Usually the loads i haul are 39 to 40k and the trailer is a reefer with a heavy lift gate on the rear.
With full tanks and loaded i'm usually around 79,500 gross.
Not much room to play but have learned where to set the tandems.
