Fueling in the morning work IF your parked at your fuel stop.....most of mine end up in the middle of my day. And you will never not have 15 minutes on line 4 as you can be on line 4 24/7 if you want....its the 14 hour rule that that 15 minutes can screw you on. And fueling once in a day is enough if you have to do it twice thats 30minutes. And for the person that said throw in 50 gallons.....every time you slow down, get off the Interstate, pull into the TS, wait in line, fuel, wait in line for your receipt and get back up to 65+ on the interstate you just wasted a whole lot of your 14......
Now usually I dont have these issuses BUT, when you get up pre-trip, drive 30 minutes spend 3 hours unloading, the drive 3 hours to pickup your next load, then spend 3 hours getting loaded, then have to go scale and possibly mess with your tandems. and have to unload first thing the next morning and in order for you to make it to your receiver on time with a 10 hour break and a pre-trip the next morning you NEED to make it to the TS at exit 25 but because you had to stop and fuel that put you 15 minutes short and in the middle of nowhere with no Rest areas or TS's around.....
Now for most of us thats not problem, but for all of you runing elogs and preaching about how great they are.....Have fun sitting on the side of the road! I'll be at the TS enjoying a nice HOT shower.....
See the point.....70 hours isnt that much time, and in most cases you wont run out, BUT why waste hours today when you MIGHT just need them tomorrow.....
American TruckerEZ Money Thanks this. -
Some companies we haul for have a max full fuel loaded tractor weight...
I have dual 80's.... -
And if frogs had wings they wouldn't bump their ###es when they hopped. If you're that close to needing 15 minutes, then you have more problems than whether you made it to a certain TS or not. -
As long as every friday I get my $800-$1100 deposit I dont think Im doing anything wrong.....
American Trucker -
$1100 deposit
That use to be mine after 32 hours

You're not doing anything wrong, but neither am I. My checks are at least that every week, and I don't worry about having less fuel stops. I stayed out for 3 1/2 weeks last month and never did a reset and still drove over 11000 miles with a slow truck. Things can be done in many ways, none are necesarily better or worse than others, just different.

I know how you were taught to log. They taught me too. Looks great on paper. On occasion it's a bit removed from reality. I'm on elogs. My company says I'm forbidden to park alongside the road or on a ramp. If I can't make it, it's a log violation. No bonus for me. Gotta plan ahead. No problems so far.
If you're clearing checks like that you're delivering a buttload of furniture. Flatbed was easier for me..... -
Its not about inconveniencing YOU driver. It's about putting 49,000 lbs of temperature controlled freight in the box.
Our competition can't do that - and a couple of our really important, long-time, major shippers are giving quite a bit more freight for doing that.
Sorry Marten, England, SRT, Central...
Another one has started having us bid on regional short-haul operations. Got the first one last year - have bids in on more this year...
Sometimes its about more than just whether you can chase more miles in a given day. These loads are really heavy - and you can't hammer down at 65+ and get efficiency out of the truck with that kind of GVW. And before you start about not getting enough miles to make your $1100 - we pay our company guys to be efficient - the better they are at it, the more they make.Last edited: Apr 5, 2011
The Challenger Thanks this. -
My last truck had dual 100's. We always topped off the tanks and were fine pulling temp controlled freight. I did fuel every 24hrs cause it was a team operation.
