Smartphone: Luxury or necessity?

I'm pretty sure there is a thread but what I wrote above is about all I use although I'm sure other drivers have a few more. Speaking of iPhones, I have to ask why? The Samsung Galaxy series, I believe they are up to III, are every bit as good and far, far less expensive. Personally I refuse to pay Apple's arrogance surcharge for any of their products and I was all Apple/Mac from 1985 until my first PC in 2000. (Yes, Gates stole the OS.) If you have a laptop and air card I'd say it's not really necessary. But, its a must if you don't have internet

 

This is offically the wife as Steve said Frank said it all but... We are looking to save money with Verizon's share plan as his costs include multple family member's phones and a 3G card for his laptop. We have 2 tablets for the kids. With wifi or 3-4G you can watch TV, Movies and such through places like Netflix and Hulu and surf the internet. But they also have apps and books and magazines, that and with a micro sd card (not available on apple devices) I can load DVD's to computer files so that they can watch movies without using any GB data at all. Take pictures, have music, see pics of your kids and video chat with the family all available with one device, the smart phone. The tablet has a bigger screen better for typing and watching free porn as Frank stated, I think the 3g card is too expensive and he should get a tablet along with the his smart phone. I should get a smart phone too and that Samsung Galaxy S III is hot! hint hint...

It's definitely a luxury, but one that I don't think I could give up.

 

i would have to say now that i have iphone I wouldnt give it up for the world! I do everything over the internet,and with the data plan dont need truck stop internet,except cant really do hulu or netflix unless truckstop internet....u will go over your plan doing that quick....also can get internet anywhere now too....even remote spots like middle of Wyoming....California desert.....drops out alot in west texas....between el paso and laredo tho...but in the towns can get a 3g signal....great tool...in fact way to much phone for me....but the data and internet functions cant be beat.....

 

I still have the basic phone. The wife got me to purchase her the new Apple 4G smart phone. I am still trying to figure it out. She will never figure it out. She has it bacuse all of her friends told her that she just had to have it. I was just going to purchase her a basic phone while she was off the truck since my current contract is almost up and was going to cancel it. She threw a fit. I guess that my next phone is going to be a smart phone since hers is hers.

 

hate to back your wife but once u get an iphone(I have the 4g too!) u aint gonna go back mister! yeah its too much phone for me too...but what i do figure out and use it for just cant be beat....wouldn't give mine up either....lol

 

Necessity. I have a rooted and hacked droid 3, and it's how I get online when I'm on the road. And no extra data charges, it uses the data allowance I already have.
