Looked at the sticker on a truck that I’ve attached. I’m trying to figure out what the 20k on the rears means? Thx!

It means 20,000 GAWR (gross axle weight rating). So, between the first intermediate axle and the rear axle, you have 40,000 capacity combined, but with a regular "normal" setup of a five axle combination without any other permits which you may need, you get the usual 34k gross on the tandems of the truck.

Its just the rating of the individual axle. When they say "40k rears, 44k, rears 46k rears" etc that's the sum of all the drive axle's weight ratings.

Bean Jr. and Stringb8n Thank this.
