Day two is done. Everything is still goin pretty good. One gripe I do have though. Even though I commend and respect the fact our orientation leader said a prayer yesterday, as I am a man of faith, he has quite a terrible habit of talking to us like we're dumb and don't know anything. Also, he's treating the orientation as if it were trucking school. It's orientation, teaching us the ins and outs of the company and how to do paperwork, etc. Also, he tends to be long winded with explanations and talking about everything at great length even though it doesn't need to be. He also feels the need to read everything word for word in the handbook. So basically, a two and a half day orientation can be done in two days if he would just get to the point. But it's whatever. We get our trucks tomorrow and our first load and should be outta here sometime around lunch. So aside from this little annoyance, things are still pretty good. We'll see how things go in a couple weeks after I get on the road.

Alright, I know it's only been a week, but I'm leavin this joint. This van stuff isn't for me. I miss flatbedding and I have a job offer making more money and being home more. Who doesn't want that, right? So I'm putting in my two weeks and skee-daddling. If I were to keep up this van stuff, I'd be 300 lbs in no time. I'm only 185 now. I can feel myself getting fatter as I type this from not getting any exercise. But regardless, Smith might be a good match for some, but not this guy. I actually like getting out of the truck and doin some work.

Wow that was a real waste of time, yours and theirs. I wonder how many companies bring in people to orientation and have them leave after a week? I bet they wish people would get their job offers for more pay and more home time before they show up at the front door.
Oh, and vans don't make people fat. People make people fat.
Southpaw7391 Thanks this. -
I talked with a recuiter, and he stated your deliver both Dist. Ctr and customer. Have you been to some hard to get in spots so far? -
Have you gone to some hard to get in spots? I've been driving reefer for two years and not sure if I want to cross over to vans. Do you like it there?

I reply would like to be keep in the loop. My first company was based on the quotes here, and boy did it make me aware of what to expect. I would assume the medical and all the pre-trip...etc... are like any other companies. So it shouldn't be hard at all to get onboard.

Stevens Transport was the same way. Road test was horrifying, I'm mean Dallas Texas for a newbie....lol, that was gut wrenching

I agree it was a waste of time. But unfortunately, I needed a job didn't have the luxury of being choosie or holding out for something. But when you have a wife and two kids, you kinda wanna see them more than just a few hours a week. But desperate times called for desperate measures. But now that an opportunity has come up that lets me see my family and make more money, I'm definitely taking it.
And I'm sorry to offend you by the choices I'm making for my family. I didn't know that what job I take and when I take it affected you so much. -
I'm not sure what I said that would make you think that I was either offended or affected by what someone a couple thousand miles away would do or say. One of the first things I learned after joining this forum is, when you put yourself out on a public forum you have to expect all kinds of comments from all kinds of people.
I'm glad you enjoy flatbedding, I did it for my entire career, but I think it made an old man out me faster than the years did.
But it sure beats:smt117for a living!!
