Common now, nothing more invigorating than smoke tarping in 40mph winds and 20 below zero.:biggrin_25523:

Or when it is frozen and cannot be folded

Rain pouring down harder than the devil

Loads so high you wonder why did I take this load

Ah,,,,,,,, yes the good old days.:smt079:smt079

    SHC Thanks this.

Ok...A show of hands for 'Bedders who were told to tarp a load...And then get to the receiver who wants to know why you wasted "their" time by tarping the load?......:biggrin_25515:

you smoke tarp a pvc load because the heat from your exhaust will embed the fuel/exhaust particulates into the pipe.

If this is used for a municipal water system, you have now contaminated the entire system with hydrocarbon material that will cause it to fail for the installer who just spent several millions of dollars putting in that new water main.

So while you want to ##### about 15 minutes of work installing a 10X10 piece of plastic to protect your city water, consider that.

Think about WHERE your product is being used and WHY they might be requesting it.

I asked the first load of pipe I hauled and remember that lesson 20 years later. As well as when I went to land survey/civil engineering tech recently.

Inspecting a project, I noticed a truck coming in and called them on it. Talk about an embarrassed driver.

Smoke tarping pipe is like bug tarping lumber. It's simple ,quick and easy. So just knock it out and be done with it. :biggrin_255:

i guess no one else here takes the tarp and puts it on the last bundle of pipe going on the front? you spread it fold it back across , hanging down some on the sides, when placed on top just pull down and boom its on , then bungee down. takes 5 minutes.

    MNdriver and aiwiron Thank this.

I never did mind tarping myself, just part of the job if the load required it then so be it. As you stated it is easy to get the tarp on and ready to roll if you think ahead, just takes a few times watching others and you catch on.

Used to watch people and being decent to the loaders I stopped struggling after a few trips.
