If all I wanted it for was a smoke tarp I would get a fitted tarp. I don't like the small flat ones as they are a pain to put on and like to slide off. The flat one would be more useful for other things if it had more rows of drings on it and if I'm going to pay for that I might aswell get a 16x16 tarp.

I have both fitted and non fitted, prefer the fitted for pipe and insulation. But Yes put the tarp on while its on the ground. I use 2 ropes on each side and tie them off to the bands or shrink rap, you can also use Gorilla tape to hold it in place till you start securing everything

I carry three smoke tarps (not fitted). And I use them when I get couple small pallets that have to be tarped. Have also used smoke tarp on small steel coil. With bungee rope, I use my smoke tarps more than my other tarps.
dogcatcher Thanks this. -
You carry around a pocket of river rocks and some rope or have custom smoke tarps?
-
Pocket of river rocks?
The bungee rope is not regular rope but like a giant bungee cord.
Smoke tarps are just 10'x12' smoke tarps. Not custom -
A round rock under the tarp will give something to tie a rope around if there is no dee ring to tie to. I have a 10x12 tarp and It drives me nuts as it only has grommets around the edges and one row of dee drings, but it isn't that helpful for the smaller jobs like pallets. I might have a cheap smoke tarp.

With the bungee rope, you don't need any dee rings or grommets.
Wish I could show you, as I've just learned to use this rubber rope in the last year, and wished I had it many years ago.
Though my smoke tarps do have dee rings all four sides.skellr Thanks this. -
I'll keep an eye out, thanks.

This is a good time to check your Fire Fighting equipment.
