If you're bobtail park on level ground, chock the wheels and release the tractor brakes.
Crawl under, pull on slack adjusters.
Are they all smoking? Are they smoking all the time? Unlikely you'd have all four auto adjusters malfunction.
Smoking brakes will have a strong distinct smell. -

driverdriver Thanks this.

No in Florida

Bring it back to the terminal or the dealer and tell them something is wrong with the brakes.

This is why new trucks have warranty. Let the dealership monkeys figure it out.

Are you sure it's the brakes? My truck smoked like crazy the first 500 miles as the coating on the DPF burned off.

Smoking brakes have a very distinct smell.
If YOU can smell it in motion, it's not your brakes.
Are they hot when you get out to inspect... Smoking at the drum ??
You should be able to crawl under and lightly tap on the shoe and it will slightly wiggle when the system is charged if their NOT in contact with the drum.
(PLEASE CHOCK YOUR WHEELS FIRST.. OR SET TRAILER BRAKES) -
unfortunately the op has not really givin us the necessary information to try to diagnose it. if the truck only has 500 miles on it take it back to Volvo and tell them to fix it.
Lepton1 Thanks this.
