SOME THINGS YOU MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT ME !!!
I started my journey looking at the SNI CHOICE PROGRAM just over 2 YEARS AGO and hem hauled around and even schelduled 2 orientations and backed out ... WHY you may ask ? FEAR - FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN . I have had my own truck for years but had never actually had a CHOICE or DISPATCHED MYSELF.
I read ALL of the SNI CHOICE threads the successful folks and the failures and I learned what I needed to do in order to make this a go and that was DO MORE RESEARCH ... BUT HOW ? I have done read all the MESSAGE BOARD THREADS - I am a CERTIFIED EXPERT RIGHT ?
WRONG - So i sought out information the best way I could and that was scour every TRUCK STOP i could and find SNI CHOICE DRIVERS and thats what I did . I was able to gain valuable information such as being able to watch them book THEIR OWN LOADS and SEE THE PROCESS first hand and learn several different tricks of the Trade just by WATCHING , LEARNING and ABSORBING the information I was so lucky to get . I met proabably 20 drivers over the course of the 2 years I was learning the information I wanted to know. WHAT I FOUND OUT WAS .... EVERYONE does things DIFFERENT but you learn little bits and pieces from each in order to make you feel in that comfort zone to taking that next leap.
So since I was able to do tons of research I had a leg up on the folks in my ORIENTATION CLASS and taught them things also. I was even able to show a INSTRUCTOR A THING OR 2 ... ( not patting myself on the back ) The research I did helped me to OVERCOME THE FEAR ... THE FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN .. THE FEAR OF NOT KNOWING ... THE FEAR.. OF BEING UNSURE OF YOURSELF ...
CAN i DO THIS .... ?
QUESTIONS YOU ASK YOURSELF
1. Can I do this
2. Will I be able to be SUCSESSFUL
3. Can I adjust from mileage to percentage
4. What are the rates going to be will they support what I need to make it a GO.
5. What kind of revenue could I expect
6. Fuel cutoff date
7. Payroll cut off
8. Paper work requirements
9. E logs and making money , will it work or will i lose my socks trying this
10. Can my wife help me ?
11. Will SNI let my wife help me on the load board
12 Whats the learning curve
13 Whats the best lanes
14 where is the best freight
15 Drop and Hook %
16 Is this just the SCHNEIDER OVERFLOW FREIGHT or is this REAL FREIGHT ... Am I just gonna be a SUPLEMENTAL TRUCK or is this REAL
17 Is there support and will they help you or am I getting thrown to the wolves so to speak
EVERY QUESTION YOU HAVE ASKED YOURSELF I DONE DID IT FOR YOU ....
In closing on this post . My intentions on this thread from the begining and going forward are to HELP YOU UNDERSTAND HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS by taking my 2 plus years or research and put it out here for the next person in line who has the same questions or concerns as I did coming into this program.
IS IT FOR EVERYONE - NO
CAN YOU GUARANTEE SUCCESS - NO
WILL YOU HELP ME - YES
CAN I MAKE IT WITH A LEASE TRUCK FROM SCHNEIDER - YES
CAN YOU TEACH ME HOW TO RUN MY TRUCK EFFIENTLY -YES
My "LESSONS" here on this thread are designed to walk you through the process and help you avoid the 2 years I took to do this and condense in into a week or 2 to help you make your decision .
I hope you can see the value I am trying to get across to you...
I have walked a MILE or 2 in YOUR SHOES....
STILL NOT SATISFIED !!!!
My recruiters name was ANDREA ... She is a IC CHOICE and Owner Operator recruiter in GB ...
Call and ask her about her NEW SON - Jason ... lol
It took me so long to sign on with all my research she said she was gonna just ADOPT ME...![]()
OH and the HATERS SAY .......
"He is just RECRUITING ... He wants that recruitment money sure hes gonna paint a rosy picture . "
Any one who has took advantage of the PM -ME option can atteast ...
I DO NOT ASK YOU TO REFER ME.
If you want to thats fine but its not the basis of why I post here ... wanted to address that YET AGAIN .. I would never turn down the oppertunity for a refferal but its NOT REQUIRED

In Conjunction with my last post. The "LESSONS " will touch most all of the major topics on peoples minds ...
I will give some weekly revenue numbers and GROSS ACCOUNTING and such. I wanted to get out GENERAL INFORMATION first before I went into that.
The folks who have done the PM-ME (in my signature) have asked me my numbers and I have shared them .. I just didnt want to focus on it yet in this thread but its coming soon ...

I have a question about trucks I was speaking with the SNI rep and he was telling me about the trucks and that the older trucks have a higher amount of money each week compared to the new trucks. If leasing a truck which would be the better to get? He did not give a specific amount just that you have to put more money toward older trucks and I was trying to figure out what year to go with. It will be a freightliner would like a 13 speed. I asked about getting the ecm downloaded and he said he had never had that request before.

The higher amount that they are refferncing is the larger amount going into the MAINT ACCOUNT weekly. The terms of the lease dictate the amount weekly depending on the 1,3, or 5yr term. As the truck gets older the amount of maint hold back gets larger. A good thing to remember is the maint money is yours to fix the truck at SNI approved shops.
Most go new cause of the lesser amount on maint upfront . however the thing to think about is the physical damage insurance on a new truck will be close to the same as maint but you can control the physical damage by lowering your insurance amount subject to depreciation as long as you keep your GAP COVERAGE which is offered.
In short either is fine just more maint upfront weekly on a older truck vs a new one ...
hope that helpspopcorn169 Thanks this. -
on the ECM DOWNLOAD .. it can be done at MASTERFLEET in GB (i believe) or any FREIGHTLINER DEALER .. be sure you get it included in your deal with your rep or you may be out of pocket .. price ranges from place to place from 100-250 .

I was thinking of one a couple years old at the most. I would like to have one with a decent warranty left on it. I know the warranty does not mean a whole lot but it would at least get the truck fixed and it will not pay for the downtime.
Could you get a bypass filter put on the truck while leasing it so you could have longer drain intervals? -
That question on the filter came up in my class.. The driver was told NO simply because its not a OEM part and the extended drain may void the warrantyrussellkanning and popcorn169 Thank this.
