Ok, I have been driving for sni for a year now, and i am wanting to go on as an IC. I have talked to a few and read a lot of posts on here, i see the risks but i see a business opurtunity as well. There is one question that i cant seem to figure out myself. How much does it cost to run a truck (new or used, specify), a day? I used to lease with Prime, and failed miserably. But was going good for the first few months. I just want to get back into the bigger game and know more than what i did before. If anyone can help, please.

Again too many variables and everyday is different.
80000 pounds in mountains or light load across Nebraska is one example.
When your trucks breaks down that is another cost i know well about lol, can't factor that into "cost per day to run". In fact thats a cost and you're not running!

Roughly .80cpm to run my truck on 3k miles per week not including driver pay or profit. Now my figure is just truck expenses and fuel as well as maintenance however I'll be adding .10 cpm here soon to have a larger maintenance fund. But if I drive fewer miles it goes up if I drive more miles it goes down.

The fact you're asking this question tells me you will probably fail here as well.

First get your fixed cost per day. That's your truck payment, insurance, plates, permits, etc.

Then your variable costs - fuel and maintenance mainly.

Set up a spreadsheet with miles per day as the variable and you'll come up with cost per mile for 300, 400, ,500 miles per day.

Most lease guys I talk to have costs between .75 and 1.10 per mile. As @freightwipper said, everybody comes up with a different number based on where, when, why how they run. Chickenwing had a great thread on doing due diligence and planning your business.
