There is one golden tip off winterdriving that hasn't been mentioned.
Smooth driving.
What i mean by that is that jerky, sudden movements are the ones that will make you lose control.
Don't hit the brakes hard but gently.
Take turns at a steady pace.
Accelerate slow.
If you see traffic slowing don't drive up to the last vehicle in front off you and stop.
Slow down but if at all possible keep moving, even if it is in 1° gear.
If you see a hill where people are strugling to get up it,don't stop halfway, stop before the incline, wait till those before you have cleared the hill and then take the hill at a constant pace.
I was in snow last winter last winter with regrooved drives that were legal (but only just).
Wheater forcast had said that my area wouldn't get any snow..............they were wrong.
I didn't get stuck or do any slides.
Use common sence,be very smooth in your driving style and adjust speed to the right level.(sometimes the right speed is no speed, just pulling over)janice123, Everett, Elendil and 1 other person Thank this. -
It's also a good practice to move the truck forwards and backwards a little after being parked for about an hour. It will help keep your brakes from freezing.janice123 Thanks this.

Excellent post. Anticipating events in front of you even farther into the future is even more critical during poor driving conditions.
