so when u have chains on do they go beyond their job? i mean other then getting you outta bad conditions and being required, do they boost ur over all safety? meaning while their on is it possible to have a higher chance of not slideing around? when ur on snow/ice and being safe doin your thing is it harder to have a mistake? so when i got chains on can i relax alittle bit more? r they like a powerful thing to have or just a tool thats used for winter. do ya know what im tryin to get at? thx couldnt really get my question out there with just one way of askin...

If I run out west, I'll put them on the 3rd lift axle.... all I have to do is drop the axle when I need to.
But in all reality, I most likely would need them other then to have them on hand in case DOT checks for them.
Besides you cannot run if the chain law is in effect with a OD load.

I've gotten stuck in mud in my back yard two times over the past 6 yrs and I used my tire chains to get out without having to pay for a wrecker.
