I have no idea how you can safely remove snow or ice from the top of a trailer or box truck. I hear NJ. has a new law either coming into effect or already in force that requires all vehicles to remove snow and ice from their vehicles before driving on the road. They claim they are going to build facilities that will do this for you. My solution is to avoid NJ. during the winter lol, or any other time I can. I do try to keep as much of the ice knocked off my truck as possible, but when it comes to the top of my trailer I don't even try to climb up a ice slick box to clean it.

Go to that link and scroll down at the bottom of the page and you will see their phone numbers to call and ask how much they cost. Oh wait,,this is last year.... You probably got it engineered by now, eh? :biggrin_2559:

Let's see,,,define a problem. 'Snow on trl. tops'. Pass a law that charges truckers who don't scrape snow off. Check.

Build a business out of it... Build a device at the yard or truckstop. Charge $10 to drive under it/scrape off snow. Check. :biggrin_25526:

if go to truck news.com--there is a very good article about how erb does the snow removal--only good in the yard, a bit time consuming--but no fear of sliding off the trailer

A school bus was hit by a sheet of ice which blew off a trailer in Connecticut this week. Thank God neither the driver nor any of the kids on board were hurt. Think that's not going to gin up the rhetoric?

I think that the public is fed up with the trucking industry for not dealing with this safety issue in the past. We are correct to argue that there are no effective and safe way to deal with the accumulation of SNICE (snow and ice) but it is difficult to explain why we have not demanded that truck, trailer and automobile manufacturers solve this problem in the past. Now that onerous fines are being imposed, there is interest in solutions.

The person who comes up with an effective and affordable way to deal with SNICE is going to make a lot of money. Brushes and scrapers are all right for removing snow but, they don't deal well with ice. Some smart people have to figure out a vehicle specific technology to prevent or remove accumulations of ice.

How about wiring the whole #### top of the trailer with a 'heating element'? How's that for technology solution? Should be no more than oh,,,,$14 or so. Yeah, let's do it for $14. No? Maybe $3,611? How much, cttruck? How much do YOU want to spend per annum added to everything you buy? $1,000 a year extra? :biggrin_2559:

There ain't no BIG money to made off this. Oh, you could do the old Socialist dream of taxing everybody for everything and making a totally safe, free-of-death world, I suppose. Liberals are sure tryin' that all the time anyway... :biggrin_25524:

13' 9" bridges do an amazing 'scrape'. Especially about 55 mph+. A bit of a shake on the ol' fiberglass top tho, huh. Sometimes breaks the top of them, too. I've seen several of these scrapers set up on big shippers yards. The driver knocks most of the snow off when they drive under it. I suppose if they put some big brushes like what are found on a street sweeper up there too, would get rid of most of the snow.

Or people COULD quit followin' so #### close when they see a big snowberg on top of the truck/trailer in front of them!!! Hey, that would require COMMON SENSE tho, eh cttruck?? :biggrin_2559:

There aren't enough truck stops in N.E. with enough space on their yards, to put these things up. Maybe you live near the side of the road and we can bulldoze your house and make room for one of these devices. Yeah, that would work, huh. :biggrin_25522:

"but not in MY backyard!" I can hear it now...:biggrin_25514:

Hire some Mexicans,,,I mean 'illegal Alien beings from UFO's to man the gangway w/brooms and shovels. Did I say that
