I just stopped in to see what was ooozing butthurt into the main forum from this thread. I tracked it back to an article where a company driver is stuck in a nutted truck, and is unhappy with those big mean o/o's who haven't been subjugated to Canada-style laws yet.

Watch your step, it's slippery in that brown puddle under the first post.

Ya, I lost all respect for you there. Part of being a "professional" means not letting what others do affect how you drive your rig. Yet you sit here and feel confident trying to tell others how to drive when you admit to being as much a danger as them because you think you know how to drive better. Yes, speeding and tailgating are dangerous. Why in the world would you think driving dangerously and inconsiderately yourself would ever fix that?

By the way, I would LOVE to see where in the laws/regs it says that "slower traffic keep right" only applies to those going under the speed limit.

Another one is construction zones. If the speed limit goes to 55, even if there are no construction barrels, the speed limit is 55. Effingham, Mt. Vernon, the town at mm54 where it even goes to 45mph, there was an accident there a month ago between two trucks and a minivan where the lanes shift. I doubt any of them were going the speed limit.

All you big, bad drivers who think you are the king of the road just because you have 10-15-20 years or more of experience behind you think it's okay for you to go over the speed limit, it is YOU guys who have given the industry a bad name. All you who like to get into the left lane all of the time and clog things up for the cars. And when I said I'd cut off a truck, well I don't mean if he is RIGHT there about to overtake me, but if he's coming up on me MORE than a truck length or two. I'd never cut off a car. I don't care about them, they can't kill a bunch of people like a big truck can.

I have 4.5 years of xp, no accidents, no tickets, no anything. Everything that guy said in that news article is spot on, except for it's not just owner operators. It's the entire culture we have of "it's ok to go over the speed limit if we don't get caught". I can't wait until they put speed cameras up over every single highway in every major metro area, and mail a ticket to anyone going more than 5 over.
Maybe these cities will actually have money to fund their poverty programs or what-not. So many people speeding, heck, it's a gold mine.
I wish there were a citizens citation program where I could give written citations to people speeding. I'd even work on straight up commission, and still be rolling in dough!! 50 mph through downtown Indianapolis, don't mind if I do. I'M NOT GONNA GET THERE ANY QUICKER BY GOING 65 THROUGH THERE! And neither will anyone else. Slowing down 22% of your speed limit for 15-20 is gonna cost you like 1% of your time.
