Guess I'm a prick, had one ask for a favor. I told him "You know I was injured for 3 months, not one of you called and asked how my cash flow was".

There’s plenty of freight. They’re trying to use over capacity as an excuse. Sure the freight still moves. But most of the Brokers are in Competition with each other, also. The one who pays Me a little more, moves the load. Bottom line, the excuse of “ market rate”, is a joke. I heard that one today. I said $2400 to Florida panhandle, they said market rate was $1600. Who’s Market? I asked, they can keep it. Just cause it’s there, doesn’t mean you HAVE to move it. Got a load Cincy to Coumbia SC, last minute, $1700, $3.25 pm. Bad part, waiting to load now, Will be a challenge, getting something tomorrow, I’m sure. That will put Me at $2300 for less than 900 miles, including DH, since yesterday. Its going to be busy till at least the first week of December. Better get the rates now, After that, it’s going to be a real tight market. Now it’s an imaginary one. There’s plenty of freight.

Lot of truth to that ...Imbooked 2 loads deep on contract loads in midwest to midwest points and another broker load ..all 2.50 to 2.90 cpm .
But all are short haul 350 to 600 miles .

Rates out of the northeast which have always sucked coming back into the midwest have dropped to a buck a mile .
Told my dispatcher today either the outbound side goes up or he finds other short hops to Ohio and reload west from there or I'm done with the northeast .

I had enough of the NE my 2nd and 3rd years on the road. I stay away from there, now. I've got a HUT sticker but it's in the binder. I've been 50mi into NY in the last 3yrs, and then right back out again.

Buyouts happen all the time. Lean, fat, doesn't matter. Little companies wanna be big and big companies wanna be bigger.

And the Megas get even bigger during this. They just increase their share of the market and force smaller companies out.

I despise their tactics personality. But they know darn well the capacity will top out later, yet they buy as many truck and get as many drivers as possible. They’re not stupid. They’re just sleazy
