no, there are much cheaper and more efficient and reliable ways then an apu.

was 84 still closed? cuz going through salt lake was an extra 60 miles.

Good to hear you are off to the races. Best of luck to you.

As far as the APU goes, I'd recommend for the remainder of this summer to just tough it out and save your money. Next year, when you have extra cash in the bank I recommend getting about a 8 or 9k btu portable AC unit and vent it to one of the front windows, powered by a honda 2000 generator or similar. This setup works well. Don't go spending the first couple grand you get on it though. Did you say this truck is also equipped with an Espar or Webasto for heat in the winter?

Make sure you have a pair of long jumper cables too in case you ever need to jump the truck from the reefer because the fridge killed the truck in the night. My old KW, the fridge would kill the truck from time to time. I would highly recommend the webasto at-2000-st unit. Burns like half a gallon maybe for 10 hours and can cook you right out of the sleeper. Draws very low amount of current from the batteries. Very nice thing to have for when it is cold. By the time it gets cold you should be able to handle that purchase. Although that will depend where you run also .. if a sleeping bag will work, that's cool too.

If you talk to the very ''old'' old timers. They will tell you the worst thing they ever did in trucking, was put a ''sleeper'' on it...

Camping is the reason..Again the old timers were correct...I am willing to bet 40% of drivers ''live'' in the truck..I like to live as a grown up with many responsabilities at the home front..
