the old time drivers I know say if you want to be home you should have been a carpenter. They shake their heads at guys who think they want to be OTR drivers then their first question is ,"how often will I get to the house ?".
Besides, even if you do get to the house a lot, what's wrong with setting your truck up for comfort even if you only plan to spend a few nights a week in it ?
