SO HOW HARD IS it BEING A FLATBEDDER

in one of my previous posts I specifically asked niche flatbed drivers to abstain from firing themselves up. Discuss advantages of pulling an open deck with guys who pull something else under their own authority. I don't understand why you think my experience relates to yours. As a company driver I did loads you would not touch with a 100 feet long stick, so you anointing yourself with superior work ethics is amusing, you don't know me so do not make up bs to fill some twisted psychological needs of yours.

 

This wasn’t your post. The op wanted to know how hard of a job it is. More specifically the recent guy asked about tarping. And you butted in saying how ####ty of a job it is. You can’t stand the fact that others are successful at it. You have nothing to add other than to whine and complain and try to pick fights. You’re an angry little man who wants everyone else to be angry too. I feel sorry for you, and I hope you find happiness in life.

 

I asked for the names of good experience flatbed outfits? What do they do to become so good? Cherry pick fast & easy loads, pay for all your time? I do not believe I had terrible time at Arrow or Boyd. Especially at Arrow. What company of that size just gives you a truck and let you drive no questions asked ... almost? Sure there was a price to pay, but for a company driver that sort of freedom is gone.

Flatbed is flatbed. Most of the things are the same no matter where you go. So how do you make money with ELDs these days? I ended my flatbed career with Boyd making 43cpm which translated to 48k/year, short to medium runs, home every weekend for a few hours at least, which meant lots of repowered loads and cooked books. And if you are above average as far as your equipment and securement standards that meant lots of extra unpaid work because an average driver just didn't give a dime back then. I always tried to help other drivers to get loads routing them home, that cost you too, and reciprocity is a beatch. It never pays. I admit I've lost some money on being thorough and helpful. If I were more arseholish and less thorough I could have made whopping 50k for 80 hours +/- of work squeezed in 5.5-6 days. So how things are much better today for a company driver?

 

you make crap up. I just posted my experience, I didn't reply to anybody' upbeat post attacking their experiences. You did attack my post because guys like you are fishing for some psychological fixes here.

 

No one is fishing for anything, you worked for crap companies and are sour for it. I’m sure your the guy that sits and waits on the shop you change a glad hand o ring.

 

Short haul on mileage pay, the only one that makes good money is the company. Percentage is the only way to go.

It’s nothing but negative ########. That’s why people jumped on you. You’re spouting negativity about a job you did once many moons ago and you think the whole industry is that way. You could have simply stated “no it’s not hard, but not worth it in my opinion”. Instead you come up with some smart ### sarcastic nonsense. You make up crap again. You seek some personal validation by means of driving a truck, you are very important person for destiny of Universe, I never questioned that, relax.

Since crappy companies of all shades and sizes dominate the biz, what's your point? You make no common sense, probably have none either.

 

Okay, I think we've taken this as far as it''s going. You guys are starting to edge into insults and name calling and we all know what happens then.
