For running regional there freight has pretty decent rates, a little bit better then I was seeing on the open market but the cons our starting to get on my nerve....
Biggest one is its forced dispatch, of course I can bs my way out of crap but for the most part loads have been fair
2nd con is there dispatch info, most loads our drop and hook but all read like appointments and when appointments is scheduled there usually wrong
3rd and this has become possibly the nail in the coffin is there dumb camera system. Now obviously I understand the reasoning for the camera but problem with this system is it scores you, basically there worse offense is following distance which I sware cars love camping in front of you for no reason what so ever.
so not sure what there game is with this camera but I'm already at verbal warning 1, but look I've been trucking for 20 plus years and have never hit any moving vehicles. Now fence poles and parked objects different story lol.
So I can easily drop there set up and be back on the open market on Monday but there pro's our pretty nice and things I didn't quite have set up yet like a really nice fuel discount and they garuntee a fuel surcharge.
but this camera system I do not like, im an adult and really don't need a babysitter that's what it feels like. Or of course I can jump ship and maybe sign on elsewhere but with who, everyone I'm sure is using some type of camera system now.
so I signed on with a medium size mega

Like I said in another post - this technology is not going away. The risk and liability for these companies has skyrocketed to the point of extinction, if they do not have it. Insurance companies are demanding that they put this technology in the trucks, if they want to have any chance of having reasonable insurance premiums or any coverage at all.
Good drivers will have to adapt. Sketchy drivers, who won't change their ways, with freight about to slow down, will be kicked to the curb without hesitation. -
Why not look into Schneider?
No cameras
Mostly drop and hook
Choose your own load
Go where you want to go, do what you want to do.
Decent fuel discounts (and tires and whatnot).
I did it for several years and was very happy.JForce28, D.Tibbitt and peabody747 Thank this. -
What’s brand is the camera system?
Asking for a friendRedForeman and Siinman Thank this. -
You let a company put their camera in your truck?
dunchues, jsnell, singlescrewshaker and 6 others Thank this. -
If it’s the Motive camera and log system it tells you what to do to improve your score. After about a week I forgot the camera was even in the truck, but the company I’m leased to doesn’t sit and watch every little thing either. I’ve had some close following alerts, usually when a car or truck cuts over too soon, but as long as you back off and let them get away it shouldn’t trigger an event.
The bigger issue to me is that they’re a forced dispatch company. I bet the IRS would love that.cke, singlescrewshaker, Siinman and 1 other person Thank this. -
I'm going through the same thing now with a new carrier I signed with. The Dispatchers are testing my nerves by their non people skills of communication and its only a matter of time before I snap! They installed a dash cam and I only noticed that the stupid mechanic touched his greasy hands all over my inner roof which I am still having a difficult time cleaning. However, the pay is actual reasonable considering they have a fuel Surcharge and pay 70% of it so I'm bearing it considering the times we are in.
D.Tibbitt and peabody747 Thank this. -
