    How is it bad-info?

Do you know the ratings for the various tie-down points on his trailer?

It's like saying drinking more water when you're dehydrated is bad information because you don't know the size of his water bottle...

yes, as a matter of fact I do know the ratings. same way I knew this battle has been fought before and won.

the statement that a bigger chain is always better is what is not true.

and your example about drinking water isn't relevant. your example of a bigger chain is always better would be like trying to drink one gallon of water when you only have a half-gallon stomach.

its like a tie down point on trailer, if its 4700 pounds a 6600 pound chain isn't doing you any better.

different trailers have different ratings, some trailers have a higher rating if you go around 2 spools instead of one, etc etc.

but the simple statement of a bigger chain is always better, is simply wrong.

Kona, you were right. This thread was some funny stuff. A little clue for people, if a billion dollar company tells you how to load and secure something, chances are they got a whole slew of million dollar attorneys that went over everything to make sure they were covered from liability. In this sue happy world the shipper has a whole lot more to lose than John Smith owner operator.

And yes, it's awesome being leased to a carrier that will always stand up and fight for their contractors.
