The above statement is not true. Most people who have been to prison know why they are there. They sit around and talk about their cases all day long to each other. Only about 3% of those in prison are innocent and that is way too high. But I know you were referring to what people who have never been to prison write about in movies like Shawshank.

I have heard of someone pulling a fifth wheel pin but I have never seen it happen. The vast majority of truckers are professional people who would not tolerate that sort of behavior. I am therefore not sure it happens. So let me tell you what I did once. I back my trailer into a place at the truck stop in Knoxville, TN. I had a date. I was going to drop my trailer and go to the date. I was extra excited about the date as there was a strong possibility of body on body contact. I pulled the pin and disconnected the hoses. I started to pull away when I remembered that I had not lowered the landing gear. I stopped and got out and lowered the gear no problem. But had I dropped the trailer my story would most likely been that someone had pulled my uncoupling lever. I would say that has most likely occurred before.

The worse was maybe a little pee on the tires but that's it. Who would do that to someone?

It would seem to me that this type of person is in the same category as a thief. I believe thieves should be questioned by the police in the hospital, where they are recuperating from long term injuries.

Of course, I felt "threatened", and therefore justified in putting them in the hospital...
