8/8 doesn't work to run the truck 24 hours in the US. When the first person takes back over after 8 hours in the sleeper, they've only got 3 hours they can drive and must take 2 hours off to complete their reset. If the other person takes over at that time, it interrupts their 8 hour sleeper break.
12/12 is probably the most balanced, fair way to run 24 hours a day. It gives both drivers time for 30 minute break, fueling, and bathroom breaks. We run 8/8 and sleep the other 8 while the truck isn't moving. She can wake up earlier, I can drive a bit later, or a combination of the two if we're on a tight schedule.
So team drivers...?

Teams generally get paid all miles on the truck so if it’s a 52 cent split you get paid 26 cent to drive and sleep!
Hope that helps -
I'm paid 0.40 cpm for all miles driven, not just the miles I drive.
Edit: 0.35 empty, 0.40 loaded. All miles. -
You should look up; Red Viking Trucker on YouTube. He recently started teaming. Very interesting. Gives all the info and comparison to solo. Best part is he’s making $100K a year now. That means a couple would make $200k+ per year.
