you can make good $$$ but you have to find the right gig I have 3 trucks and only drive a couple times a month I have a good gig but most are not
Most lease deals are a screwjob make you bear the risk while they keep the gravy
I every now and then pick up a truckstop rag and just can't belive the say 1.50 a mile with the surcharge these folks have no shame

 

and chrome doesn't make you one cent more

 

Last year i grossed $212,546.76 cents, i drove roughly 85-90k miles.

Simple answer to a simple question........ Maybe its all that chrome on my truck, shippers like it and pay me more

 

Eskimo Has Definitely Summed Up A Lot Of It There You Have To Really Be Agressive On Being Tight With Everything When I Get A Truck Iput In A Dorm Fridge Microwave And 2500 Watt Cobra Inverter From The J Usually Inverter And Fridge On Sales 350 Total I Rip Out A Cabinet Put In My Moneysavers And Stay Out Of The Truckstop Showers Pay For Fuel Thats It I Run 2600 Miles A Week 4200 To 4500 Sometimes 6000 To 7000 But I Try To Be Monday Thru Sat Noon Minneapolis To The Southeast It Is Not Easy Frustrating But I Am The Only Captain Of This Ship It Is What It Is Now If You Rtun Team As A Couple Put Two Years In Then Go Out With The Ability To Command The Miles And Pay You Deserve Sometimes I Will Turn 4500 Miles By Myself I Dont Think That Company Is Utilizing A Team Very Well At All

 

THAT SHIPPER DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR CHROME YOUR AVERAGE IS OVER TWO DOLLARS A MILE BY A GOOD MARGIN 2.36 AT 90,000 I DONT BELIEVE YOU UNLESS YOU HAUL DIRECT YOU CANT BE LIVING IN THAT TRUCK AT 90,000 MILES A YEAR IF YOU DO GREAT BUT ITS NOT REALISTIC NUMBERS

 

No i just dont haul crappy dry freight. 70% of that i made running from here to chicago or milwaukee, 300 miles a day.

I own the truck, i own the trailer, and most important of all i own the signs on the door and pull for local farmers direct and when i run west i also haul direct. I havent hauled for a broker in........ hardly ever.

OH i was being sarcastic about the chrome, but i make the money to afford it. I have been sitting at home for a month now, with truck payments waiting for the produce season to start, and i will keep waiting for it.

I'm not about to post my gross. If they don't believe your numbers, mine would blow their minds considering that I'm running a 16 truck fleet(plus four leased on O/O).

 

Well maybe they think the $110,000 they will make leased on to jb hunt is big money and what i posted went right over their head. I am not pulling numbers out of my #$$, this is just for one of our trucks, i still have one more.... And trust me last year was a very slow year for me, this year should be alot better.

 

don't forget the 150k miles they have to drive to make that $110k
