Those are two good points; and here's the correct answer:

    The mechanic:

Since the mechanic is operating outside of the 100 air mile radius, he/she is not exempt from federal HOS. Therefore, if he/she goes over the 14 hour clock while driving the vehicle, they will violate their logs (if caught).

    The teacher:

It depends on if they operate within the 100 air mile radius and if their work day goes beyond 12 hours between both jobs.

It doesn't matter if you stay in one state all shift long. If your shift goes over 12 hours or you operate outside of the 100 air mile radius, you are under federal HOS while operating a CMV.

I don't hate my SD, he worked hard and proved I didn't hit a fence a customer claimed I hit...

Don't sleep for 2 days? Huh? Where'd you get that assumption?
No we get detention regardless of the log. They go by the appointment time, and what time we got there & stuff.

sounded like if you logged 8hrs as sleeper but were actully working you would miss out on your sleep for that day. if they had a load waiting and wanted to force ship you.

Yup. HOS doesn't dictate your level of fatigue as much as the government likes to think it does.

Dudes need to read 395.1... THEN ask questions... not ask a gillion odd questions, THEN read 395.1...

Best case scenario is that you get misinformation from people who think they know what they're talking about. Worst case is you follow their advice, screw up, and get fined and shut down.

    READ, then ask.

I have read it some of it is a bit confuseing and just because it is in the rules and regs does not stop companies from working around them. There is the way things should be done, ways things must be done then there are the ways things are ACTUALLY DONE.

yes a company can not fire you for driveing legall. or fileing a complaint. however they can make your life difficult if you do not play by Their rules!

Before I commit to playing this game. I want to understand ALL the rules.

That wasn't directed at me, was it?

You're never going to understand all the rules. That's why you always keep the green book with you.

You can edit your e-logs before you approve them. The only line you can't edit though is line 3. Even with e-logs, they aren't legal documents until you sign them by approving them.

Basically if you get injured while unloading your truck on line 2, you can limp back to put yourself on line 4 for that duration of time you were unloading.
